School Aims


The purpose of Bablake Junior School is to provide an excellent and stimulating education for boys and girls, by developing character, intellect and physical well being within a happy, scholarly and caring community. In order to achieve this, the School aims:

 

·         to provide dedicated and enthusiastic staff, who enable pupils to enjoy their education and to fulfil their all round potential whilst at school

·         to encourage the growth of reflection, intellectual curiosity and creativity, within a spirit of independent and co-operative learning

·         to value and support each individual, providing a high quality of pastoral care, and nurturing self-esteem and mutual respect, in partnership with parents

·         to provide a challenging and balanced curriculum, which prepares pupils for the next stage of their education and equipping them with skills for life

·         to offer a wide range of activities and opportunities for enrichment, enabling pupils to develop sporting and cultural interests through participation with others

·         to celebrate achievement and success in all areas of endeavour, within a purposeful and secure community

Share good teaching practice and encourage stimulating and ambitious teaching strategies

Maintain and develop a high quality structure of study which thoroughly covers the National Curriculum and encourages both independent and co-operative learning

Welcome address by the School director

We are glad to welcome all parents/ Guardian to Flourish Capital School.

        We are very conscious of the need to equip pupils for future challenges and learning and as such we emphasise the development of skills as well as understanding and knowledge, please scroll down for more interesting news.


Curriculum

A stimulating and challenging curriculum


Our Curriculum is wide and varied and is specifically designed to allow opportunities for interesting and stimulating lessons. We are very conscious of the need to equip pupils for future challenges and learning and as such we emphasise the development of skills as well as understanding and knowledge.


The academic core


Maths, English and Science lessons, with a particular emphasis in the latter upon investigations, usually take place in the morning with other, less academic subjects in the afternoon. Civic Education and History make up a broad humanities curriculum which strongly features the important influence of local history. Coventry has a rich and stimulating past. 


Bringing the World closer


All of our pupils study  Arabic, English from Year 3. In Year 6  Spanish is also taught. ICT is timetabled as a discreet subject as well as being integrated into other areas of learning. All classrooms have interactive whiteboards and these, along with our computers, are enthusiastically utilised.

An artistic and cultural experience

Every child has two lessons of Music each week and in Year 4 all pupils have group lessons in three different instruments - a term of strings and then a term of keyboards and brass. Art lessons are weekly and Design Technology taught in half-termly modules. Rich and beautifully crafted displays of work around the school reflect the importance we place on all creative activities.  Pupils also have discreet Drama lessons.


Sport for all!

All of our pupils have the opportunity to  swim every week either in lessons or after school.  They also benefit from double lessons of  PE and two sessions of Games. Sports lessons are taught by specialists and increasing use of other specialist teachers occurs as pupils move up the school.


Working hard is expected and is the norm

Pupils' learning is managed by their Form Teacher in conjunction with the subject teachers. One of the most important aspects of learning here at Bablake Junior School is the enthusiasm pupils apply to their studies. Parents actively support this positive attitude and it is very apparent within the atmosphere of lessons.


Support and challenge

Pupils are set throughout the school for Maths and in some year groups for English. We feel that this enables the teachers to direct the learning of their pupils as individually as possible and support and challenge as appropriate. The pace of lessons and expectations are also adjusted in these circumstances and we are confident that this allows all pupils to flourish.

An outstanding programme of individually tailored Learning Support ensures all pupils are able to reach their potential.

Preparing for the Senior School; the Year 6 experience

In Year 6, and particularly after their SATS, pupils are encouraged to take part in enterprise schemes, a school play and other expansive activities.


Interacting with parents

Regular Grades and Form Teachers' reports mean that parents are kept well informed as to how their child is progressing. Parents Evenings are held twice a year and parents are in general encouraged to speak to their child's Form Teacher whenever they feel the need.

We appreciate that the education we offer is only part of a child's life and that it is fundamentally and profoundly enhanced by support and interaction with home.
